All the colors will bleed into one...

MLK Day got me thinking about Van Jones and Bono.

Stay with me.

Van Jones, a black civil rights activist, is becoming a leading spokesman for the green movement. Watch the video above and you'll understand why.

Bono sings "I believe in Kingdom Come, when all the colors will bleed into one, bleed into one."

Could that one color be green?

Now watch the video below of Bono at the NAACP Awards last year. Bono, who has been heavily influenced by the life of Martin Luther King, Jr., is given the Chairman's Award. Watch this white, "almost pink," Irishman channel the spirit of Dr. King in his acceptance speech.

Inspiring! Moving on to rolling up our sleeves and doing the heavy lifting for this unified green vision, I ask the following: Are there any extant "green collar" type organizations in ATL? Van Jones' website doesn't seem to have any partners here in ATL (mostly in CA). From my limited experience of attending 'green' events since arriving in town a couple months ago, this seems like an currently un(der)-addressed issue here. Whether sustainable food, shelter, or transit is the issue at hand, the audience has been very monochromatic and generally 'bourgie'. They've been earnest, thoughtful, and actively committed, just not so diverse. Who is stepping up to get more segments of the community involved in something which affects all of us: our shared future? Thanks.

Please be patient with the Van Jones video. It takes about 5 - 6 seconds to load up and plays for several minutes, but it's well worth watching.

mpo - please see the post made Feb. 5 on Suniva Solar. Their manufacturing facility will employ green collar workers.
