LEED Sculptor will showcase work at LEEDing Edge

Dwayne Bass became the first sculptor to produce a work that earned a LEED ID Credit for New Construction. The Sculpture,"Stepped On No More", was constructed from the waste materials from the building job site, located in Braselton, Georgia. Since then another has been completed in South Carolina and production is underway on a third sculpture in Savannah, GA. All sculptures are produced with reclaimed, recycled or sustainable materials. The end result is a synergy of artistic value, environmental stewardship, and recreational functionality.

LEEDing Edge--a work of art in it's own right--is located on Edgewood Avenue in historic Old Fourth Ward. Designed by well-known Atlanta Architect Michael Fletcher this LEED platinum certified mixed-use building features a rainwater harvesting system, passive solar design, and an accessible green roof that offers sweeping views of the city. The home also features re-used material. The 200-year-old white pine floors were harvested/rescued from an old Ohio home.

Join fellow EcoBroker Jennifer Spivey and me at 546 Edgewood Avenue for a one-night-only showing of Dwayne's unique art on Thursday, September 24, from 7:30 - 9:30 p.m. Amongst other works to be displayed, Dwayne plans to produce a piece from some of the material left over from the construction of LEEDing Edge.
