Finding and plugging the leaks in your home [and your bank account]

Georgia Power customers are eligible for a rebate of 50% of an energy audit fee [maximum of $200]. I am currently paying the remainder of the fee [up to $200] as a closing gift for buyers I work with. Some home inspectors will discount the energy audit if done in conjunction with the home inspection during due diligence on a home purchase. So, in many cases you can have this valuable analysis [$400 - $450] of your home's performance done for free.

Diagnostic tools like a blower door test, infrared thermal imaging, and ductwork blaster testing help to pinpoint areas of the home where there are leaks and other inefficiencies that can be corrected with Energy Star certified home performance specialists.

Georgia Power is offering rebates up to $1900 for customers who make certain recommended improvements. This is the low-hanging fruit of energy efficiency when you add in the new federal incentives.
